Hi Tiffany!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so excited that you stopped by with your question about setting sail with Captain Mickey.
While Walt Disney World has MagicBands, Disney Cruise Line has a Key to the World Card. At the cruise terminal on embarkation day, all Guests will receive this card. Your Key to the World card is exactly that: your key to everything on Disney Cruise Line! It unlocks your stateroom door, allows you to make charges to your stateroom account, and serves as your ship identification and photo card.
Additionally, your Key to the World Card also has great information like your rotational dining schedule, table number, and muster station. With all that information, Captain Jack Sparrow would guard his card as closely as he does his compass!
If this is your first Disney cruise, then I suggest you buy lanyards with a clear pouch attached for you and your family to carry your Key to the World cards. Or you can purchase lanyards at the
onboard shops. Meanwhile, returning Guests who have hoisted the main sail with Disney Cruise Line at least once will receive lanyards upon Check In.
If you have young buccaneers ages of 3-12 and they go in the Youth Clubs, then they will wear an Oceaneer Band that is very similar to a MagicBand. These bands are used for checking in and out of
Oceaneer Club and
Oceaneer Lab. Bands are to be returned at the end of your sailing, or Guests may keep the band and a small fee will be charged to your stateroom account.
Tiffany, I hope we’ve steered you in the right direction and that your cruise is nothing but smooth sailing. Please keep us in mind as you continue to plan your adventures on the high seas!
Bon Voyage!
Sherry
