Can Magic bands be used at Disneyland? If so, what for? Thanks

Hi there, Leanne! Welcome to planDisney. MagicBand+ is such a convenient device to use in the parks. While its functionality is a bit different from Walt Disney World, I'd love to explain how I like to use mine at The Happiest Place on Earth.

While you won't have the ability to unlock your on-property hotel room or make in-store purchases, you can use your MagicBand+ for park entry, Lightning Lanes, and linking Disney PhotoPass photos. As a toddler mom, that's more than enough for me!

Park entry is such a seamless way to get into Disneyland or California Adventure because I don't have to fiddle with my phone while juggling the stroller, open the app, and pull up my ticket. Once I'm at the entrance, I simply scan my MagicBand+ and I'm good to go. It's even better, and faster, when our whole party has them so we can get to our favorite attractions quickly! The same can be said for Lightning Lanes. Rather than scanning and swiping each pass in the app, each Guest can simply scan their MagicBand+ and head right onto the attraction.

We're on the tail end of Disneyland's 70th Celebration. With all the final fanfare getting ready to come to an end, there are a few MagicBand+ opportunities hidden throughout Disneyland. There are five locations throughout the park where you can scan your MagicBand+ to unlock unique interactions and effects inspired by some of the park's opening-day attractions. It's a little dose of nostalgia as you celebrate 70 years of Disneyland. Your MagicBand+ can also interact with select nighttime spectaculars. World of Color Happiness!, Wondrous Journeys, and Paint the Night will sync with your MagicBand+ to the music and light up in celebration.

Leanne, thank you so much for visiting planDisney. I hope this gave you a better idea of how MagicBand+ works at Disneyland. I hope you can visit before the end of the 70th Celebration to experience these unique MagicBand+ interactions for yourself. If you have any more questions before then, planDisney is here for you!
