Do we get magic bands with our tickets still? Are fast passes still something that's possible? Is there a different system for reserving a time for attractions?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Matthew! You’re as welcome as can be to planDisney!

I’m so excited for your December visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I just returned from the Walt Disney World Resort, and I can’t say enough good things about my experience. I’m happy to announce that despite the unusual times, Disney magic is alive and well!

To help answer your questions, I did some research, and discovered that Disney Resort Hotel Guests with an arrival date through December 31, 2020 will still receive complimentary MagicBands. So, since you’re arriving on December 19, you’re all set! Guests arriving on January 1, 2021 or beyond won’t be provided a complimentary MagicBand, but will have the option to purchase one if they’d like to. As for using FastPass+, unfortunately this service has been suspended for the time being in order to use additional queue space to manage attraction capacity and maintain physical distancing. Currently, there isn’t another reservation system in place. I was also worried about not having FastPass+ on my recent visit, but my group did just fine without it! In fact, I don’t think we waited more than an hour and a half for an attraction, and that was for Avatar Flight of Passage. Many of the attractions we rode actually had a significantly shorter wait time than what was posted. As an added bonus, I really enjoyed observing details of the standby queues that I haven’t noticed before when bypassing them with FastPass+! I absolutely loved seeing Oaken in his sauna in the standby queue for Frozen Ever After

To help you prepare for your upcoming getaway, I recommend checking out this helpful “Know Before You Go” page. Also, be sure you have a Disney Park Pass reservation for each of your theme-park days. Lastly, since face coverings are required for all Guests ages 2 and up, I recommend checking out Disney’s Cloth Face Masks – you can purchase them online, or at the Walt Disney World Resort. I purchased several on my recent visit, and I love the new fit and material! Here’s my favorite holiday-themed pack to help you have a very merry holiday season!

I hope this information helps, Matthew! Please stop by with any additional questions you may have… we’re all EARs!

Wishing you a magical, pixie-dusted holiday!
