Hi - Do you only get Magic Bands when you stay at a Disney resort? We are coming to a Character dinner one day and the park another, but staying with family off resort. I am asking more for the memory maker since it says it is required to get some pictures

    Hi Kathy!

Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel receive complimentary MagicBands for their vacation.  You have the option of purchasing them if you would like if you are staying off-property.  The advantages to doing this as an off-property Guest are not having to carry your actual park tickets for theme park entry and for FastPass+ queue entry and not having to carry a PhotoPass/Memory Maker card when you take photos with a PhotoPass photographer.  Is a MagicBand required?  Nope.  If you have Memory Maker, you will have the photographers scan a PhotoPass card.  You'll need to link the unique code on the back of the card to your online PhotoPass account to view, edit and download your vacation photos.  I always suggest taking a picture of the back of the PhotoPass card with your camera or phone just in case you lose the card. That way you have the code to link and you can pick up a new PhotoPass card the next time you see a photographer.

    Have a magical day!
