Can Magic Bands purchased for one member of a family be used by another member of the family on a separate trip? I took one of my daughters and her family to disney this past January and am planning a return trip October with the other daughter?

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Cindy. I'm glad you've stopped by to chit-chat about your Walt Disney World vacation later this year.

Cindy, once a MagicBand is linked to a particular person, it is not able to be relinked to someone else. That particular person can reuse their own MagicBand over and over for different trips but it cannot be shared with another person. If you would rather not purchase a MagicBand for your trip this coming fall, you do have other options. When you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort hotel that you happen to be staying at, stop by the front desk and ask for a "keys to the world" card. These are complimentary and can be linked with your tickets, hotel room, PhotoPass pictures and more. The cards come in different designs of Mickey and the gang and can be a really fun collectible. I think they are so cute. You can also simply use your smartphone device for everything you'd need a MagicBand for as well. If you have the MyDisneyExperience app downloaded on your smartphone you'll be all set. You can add your Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets to your mobile wallet, open your Walt Disney World Resort hotel room door, scan into the lightning lane at certain attractions and even have your PhotoPass pictures sent to your account. It's a great new addition and what I choose to use now at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. I really like not having to keep up with a MagicBand or card while I am there. Since my phone is always with me anyways, I find it super convenient.

Cindy, I see that your upcoming trip is going to be in October. That's such a fun time to visit Walt Disney World. Everything is decked out in its not-so-spooky Halloween decorations. Last year, we enjoyed the Disney After Hours Boo Bash that took place on select nights at Magic Kingdom Park. While no party has been confirmed yet, I am fairly certain we should hear something about what we can expect soon. If an after-hours party interests you, be sure to keep an eye out on the Disney Parks Blog. When information is released, that's going to be where we can find all of the details.

I hope this helps, Cindy. If you have more planning questions along the way, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'd love to help.

    Happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
