I have Magic Bands that were purchased in October 2021 for a trip. We have a new trip coming up in January 2024. When I try to link my old Magic Bands to my current reservation it is unable to find the number. Does this mean the bands batteries are dead?

Hi Lyndsey and welcome to planDisney!

MagicBands are such a fun way to add a little convenience to any Walt Disney World vacation.  You can use them to enter the theme parks, enter Lightning Lane attraction queues, open your Disney Resort hotel room door and pay for merchandise and Disney dining.  There is no need to carry around various cards when you have the magic right on your wrist!

Once you have a MagicBand in your My Disney Experience account, you don't have to link it again.  It will automatically connect to any existing or future vacations that you book and there is no need to try and relink them.  For assurance, you can check to see if your MagicBands are in your account and active by hovering over the "My Disney Experience" tab at the top right of the Walt Disney World website and then clicking on "My MagicBands and Cards".  Click on the Guest in the list that you would like to check and all of your previous MagicBands and/or ticket cards will show.  Unless you deactivated them yourself at some point, they should show in your account as active.  If you see all of your MagicBands listed for each Guest in your party, you're good to go!

Now let's talk about MagicBand batteries!  Disney states the battery on a MagicBand lasts about 2 years, but I have some that are much older that still work.  Unfortunately, there isn't a way to test if your MagicBand still has battery life from home, but you can check to see if they still work at the front desk of your Disney Resort hotel or at any Guest Services at the theme parks or at Disney Springs.

The newest version, MagicBand+, is now available and has some fun new features to it.  It lights up and vibrates at select nighttime shows and it interacts with the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection at all four theme parks.  If you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel for your next Walt Disney World vacation, you have the option to purchase new MagicBands at a pre-arrival discount and that includes MagicBand+ bands.  There are lots of fun designs and characters to choose from.

Please stop back by and visit if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
