Hi there, James!
Thanks so much for bringing your question to us at
planDisney. I’m so happy to hear you’ve got a
Disneyland Resort vacation in the works, especially if this will be your first visit to
Disneyland Park, the original Disney theme park here on the West Coast! There’s nothing quite like the magic of walking in Walt Disney’s footsteps.
James, I’m sorry you’re having difficulty linking your MagicBands to the
Disneyland mobile app. Please check and see which version you’re attempting to link because only
MagicBand+ is supported at the Disneyland Resort at this time. MagicBand and MagicBand 2 cannot be linked to the Disneyland app, which would explain the issues you’re having if you’re trying to link that type of MagicBand.
If you do have MagicBand+ bands, here are some tips that might help you troubleshoot the problem. Be sure your MagicBand+ is fully charged, and then power it on by pressing the button on the back one time. Tap the band to the back of your smartphone and you should be prompted to open or download the Disneyland app. If you already have the app downloaded, be sure it is updated to the latest version. Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to link the MagicBand+ to your Disney account, assign it to a linked
theme park ticket, and pair it to your phone. Please keep in mind that a MagicBand+ can only be assigned to one ticket or pass at a time, but you can unlink a MagicBand+ and link it to another account if need be.
I hope this information helps, James, but if you’re still having trouble, you are welcome to visit a Guest Relations location once you arrive at the Disneyland Resort to get help directly from a Cast Member. Please write back to planDisney with any other pixie-dusted planning questions you may have!
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
