We have magic bands from an older trip we never took and they have our names on it and their assiged to us but on a different account. Is there a way to transfer from that account to ours? Once again Never been used due to the trip was in march of 2020.

Hey Howdy Hey Riley and welcome to planDisney!

Riley, in just a few short weeks you will be on your way to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I bet you are SUPER excited! Nothing says "Vacation Mode" like putting our MagicBand on before you leave for your Magical vacation. Thank you so much for your question on transferring MagicBand usage from one account to another as this can be confusing if this is possible or not. Let's jump in and go through the steps to get this done.

What you can try to do first is link the MagicBands you have to your account. Once you log onto your My Disney Experience account, hover over the My Disney Experience logo until you see the drop-down menu. Click on "My MagicBands and Cards" and then you should see everyone in your party linked there as well as the MagicBands that are linked to their accounts. If you scroll to the bottom, you should see instructions and a button, "Link", to link your MagicBands. I would try to go through those steps first to see if you can do this from here. If you get an error message saying something like, "These MagicBands are connected to another account", well on to the next step.

Unfortunately from here, this requires the expertise of the Cast Members in the MagicBand department. If you call Disney at (407) 939-4357, a Cast Member will be able to help you reassign these MagicBands to the appropriate Guest in your party. You can also bring them with you and talk to the Cast Members at the Check-In desk on your date of arrival and they will be able to do this as well.

One thing to be aware of with your MagicBands is the battery life. I know the MagicBands have not been used yet, but I have been told by Cast Members the life of the battery is about two years. Since you are around that time, I would still take them with you and try to use them, just know there is a chance they may not work due to the battery situation.

I also wanted to let you know about another option in case you have issues with your MagicBands, which involves Disney MagicMobile Service. This service was introduced in the Spring of 2021 and is like setting up a virtual MagicBand from your smart device! From your My Disney Experience app, tap the three horizontal lines on the bottom right of your screen. You should see several tiles come up, one of which is Disney MagicMobile. You can set this up for just you or any other members of your party. This works like a MagicBand in that through your smart device, you will have access to your park tickets, room key and even charging privileges all with a tap of your smart device on the access points throughout the Walt Disney World Resort! Best of all, you can use your MagicMobile and MagicBands interchangeably throughout your vacation as well.

Good luck in getting your MagicBands transferred over to the right accounts and I hope for an extra Magical vacation full of memories for you and your travel party! If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out, we would be happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,
