Lorraine from PA Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Can you use magic bands if you are not staying at a Disney resort? If you can does it work the same as if you are staying on site?

    Hi Lorraine,

Thanks for bringing this question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. MagicBands make a day in the theme parks so much more convenient!

Yes, as a Guest staying off-site, you can use a MagicBand throughout your vacation to Walt Disney World Resort. You will be able to use your MagicBand to enter the theme parks (with a valid theme park admission ticket), check-in at FastPass+ attractions and connect Disney PhotoPass photos to your account. Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel do see a few additional uses for their MagicBands. For example, on-site Guests can use their MagicBands to unlock their Resort hotel rooms and can use their MagicBands to purchase food and merchandise throughout Walt Disney World Resort.

You can purchase MagicBands prior to your trip and link them to your My Disney Experience account from home. To purchase your MagicBands in advance of your trip, visit the Disney Store online or download the Shop Disney Parks app. You can also purchase MagicBands once you arrive by visiting select retail locations at the Walt Disney World Resort.

I hope I've answered your question, Lorraine! Please stop back again and let me know if you have any additional questions about your upcoming trip.

Wishing you magical memories to last a lifetime!
