Do magic bands need replaced after two years?

Hello Elizabeth, and welcome to planDisney!

The MagicBand. So many colors, so many styles, so many of them hanging around at my house!  There are so many stories that each and every one of my MagicBands could tell! There was the purple one that helped us survive a hurricane at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.  There was the green one that was with me when we decided to become Disney Vacation Club owners.  Oh, and there's the pink one that my wife wore when we shared our first No Way Jose at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop during one of our anniversary trips!  So many MagicBands and so many memories!

Elizabeth, two years is not always the end of the life span of a MagicBand! To find out for sure, head to your My Disney Experience account and select MagicBand & Cards.  Scroll down to see “Manage Disney Bands or Cards”. You should see all your old MagicBands listed and whether they are active or not.  If they are active, you should be able to use those MagicBands at the parks.  You will be able to use them at most touchpoints like Lightning Lanes, unlocking your resort hotel room door, and charging purchases to your room.

The older MagicBands do not offer the enhanced experiences that the MagicBand+ offers.  If you upgraded, you would be able to interact with a variety of entertainment and experiences throughout the parks.

Elizabeth, I hope you get a chance to visit the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival during your visit in May! I see that Iam Tongi the former American Idol winner will be making his first appearance at the Garden Rocks Concert Series while you are in town!  I’m sure he will be singing his Lilo & Stitch hit “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” during his concerts at the America Gardens Theatre!  As Stitch would say “Ok, ok!”

Elizabeth, have a magical time and don’t forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!
