Hi Brad, welcome to planDisney!
You and your outlaws are going to have a recklessly good time at Walt Disney World Resort next month. Participate in an intergalactic chase at EPCOT on the brand-new
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction. This reverse-launch coaster can currently be accessed via a virtual queue or as an Individual Lightning Lane purchase. Both require a My Disney Experience account and the My Disney Experience mobile app, which leads us to the question at hand.
Valid admission, a
theme park reservation for each park day, and a
method of entry (MagicBand, admission card, or Disney MagicMobile pass) are currently required for theme park entry. MagicBands are linked to individuals in My Disney Experience and can be used on multiple trips. The battery life of a MagicBand is said to be two years, but my MagicBand of choice is still going strong after almost four years. That being said, there is no way to tell by looking at a MagicBand if the battery is still working, even if it's listed as "Active." If your MagicBands are over two years old, Brad, you can check with a Cast Member at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel or theme park to see if it's still working. Who knows, an upgrade to
MagicBand+ might even be an option for your trip.
You have two options if you want to connect the MagicBands linked to your in-laws' My Disney Experience account to the new reservations under your outlaws' account. The first option is to call and speak with a friendly Cast Member at the
My Disney Experience and MagicBands phone number, (407) 939-4357. You should expect a significant wait time, but Cast Members have the right kind of pixie dust required to merge the vacation entitlements on your account profiles.
The second option is for you and your spouse to create your own
My Disney Experience account and ask your in-laws and outlaws to invite you to connect as such:
1. Create a My Disney Experience account.
2. On your in-laws'
Family and Friends list in My Disney Experience, they should click "Update" next to your name.
3. In the upper right of the Update Information box, they should then click "Share planning with Brad," enter the email address associated with your newly created My Disney Experience account, and click "Continue."
4. Check your email for a message from Disney Destinations with the subject line "You have a Family and Friends invitation to join in on Walt Disney World vacation planning." Once you accept this invitation, the MagicBand will automagically transfer to your account.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 from your outlaws' account. Once you accept the second invitation, the reservations housed under their account will also transfer to your account, giving you access to all of your vacation entitlements under one account.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for your spouse.
I hope all the tech talk in option two didn't land you
Lost in the Woods. Just remember, Disney Cast Members are the heart of the
50th Anniversary Celebration and they are available to take your call 7 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. EST. PlanDisney is hEAR for you, too!
Choose magic,
