Hi Paul,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm always happy to help a fellow Canuck with planning questions for a
Walt Disney World Resort adventure - thanks for stopping by. Disney bands (or MagicBands as they are called in the U.S.) are so handy when vacationing at Walt Disney World Resort. Disney bands offer a practical way to keep your trip details organized while adding a pop of colour and acting as a fun accessory. With a simple tap of your wrist, you can unlock your hotel room, enter the parks, add PhotoPass photos, and make contactless payments for merchandise and dining.
If your Disney bands are a few years old, you should still be good to go. On our most recent trip, some of my kids wore bands from 2019 and they worked perfectly for park entry, room access, and
Lightning Lane check-ins. The only thing that might not work as bands age is the long-range battery, which automatically links attraction photos. Don’t worry - you can still add those to your account manually in the My Disney Experience app or website.
To verify that your bands are active, log in to the
My Disney Experience App and from the menu at the bottom right of the screen, select "MagicBands & Cards". Here, you can click on your family members and see any Disney bands or cards that have been linked. You can also reactivate (or deactivate) any bands or cards. If your Disney band says active, you're good to go!
I hope this information is helpful as you plan your springtime trip, Paul. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out. I'd love to help!
Adventure is out there,
Candace
