Do the magic bands ever go bad? Meaning, do they expire, or just no longer work? Is it smart to get a new one for EACH visit if those visits are within a year or so???

    Hi Dawn!

The estimated battery life of a single MagicBand is about 2 years, however, my husband is using his special Haunted Mansion MagicBand from well over 2 years ago, which was still the old style.  It's still going strong!  If you have MagicBands from last year, you'll likely be able to use them if you don't want to receive new ones for your next trip.

MagicBands are complimentary for each Walt Disney World Resort hotel stay.  We always get new ones because my kids like to alternate colors each day of our vacation or they'll use them at home for crafts.  Recently, we used them as fun garland decorations on our Christmas tree.

If you would like to opt-out of receiving new MagicBands for your next vacation, you can do so in your My Disney Experience account under "My MagicBands and Cards".

    Have a magical day!
