Kathy, when you link a MagicBand to your
My Disney Experience account, it is marked as “active” by default. You can see if a
MagicBand linked to your account is active by visiting this link.
You do not need to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel in order to use or active a MagicBand.
If you purchase your MagicBand while at Walt Disney World Resort, it is easy to
link it by using your My Disney Experience account or the
My Disney Experience mobile app. If you have any problems linking it at the time of purchase, a friendly Cast Member can help you. I encourage you to download the My Disney Experience mobile app in advance of your upcoming vacation.
