Our magic bands will be approximately 4 years old when we return to Disney world, will they still be active?

Hey there, Bill! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Bill, MagicBands should have a battery life of approximately 2-years. I personally have some that are older and still work. But there’s no way to check before arriving if your MagicBands are still fully functional.

If you’re staying on Disney property during your upcoming stay, you will receive complimentary MagicBands to use during your visit. You can also purchase new ones during your visit at many retailers throughout the theme parks, resort hotel gift shops, and Disney Springs.

If your MagicBand battery is no longer good, your MagicBand will still work the same way a ticket card would. But the extra pixie dust that an active MagicBand has, like the ability to capture attraction photos from afar, might not. If you use the ones you already have during your upcoming visit, keep an eye on your My Disney Experience mobile app and PhotoPass photos as this will be the tall tale sign if they’re still working at full capacity or not.

I hope this helps answer your question. If you have any additional questions or need planning tips, please don’t hesitate to stop by.

We hope to see you again real soon!
