Hiya, Wei Man.
Welcome to planDisney! Close your eyes. Can you picture it? Cinderella Castle in the distance, music playing and children laughing in the background, the smell of popcorn wafting past you ... In just a few short months, you'll be immersed in all of this and more. The magic of Walt Disney World Resort is real and waiting for you!
I’m so glad you stopped by with this question, Wei Man, because MagicBands are oh-so handy and convenient. You are correct that the long-range battery in your
older MagicBands may no longer be functioning, but your MagicBand should still work at direct “Mickey-to-Mickey” touchpoints (the door to your Disney Resort hotel room, theme park entrances,
charging purchases during your stay, tapping in for Lightning Lanes, etc.). However, you first need to verify that your MagicBand still shows as “active” in your
My Disney Experience mobile app. To do this, click on the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner of the home screen and select “My Profile” from the options that appear. Click on “MagicBands & Cards,” then “Your MagicBands & Cards” and scroll down until you find the MagicBand ID number that matches what’s on the back of your MagicBand. As long as it says “active” next to the ID number, you’ll be good to go!
Now, since the long-range battery has likely gone kaput, I recommend setting up a
Disney MagicMobile pass on your smart device as a backup system to ensure your
Disney PhotoPass attraction photos and videos link to your Disney PhotoPass gallery properly. Just make sure you enable Bluetooth for the My Disney Experience mobile app in the settings on your device once you’ve set up your Disney MagicMobile pass.
Wei Man, I hope this information puts your mind at ease. Stop by again if we can answer any other questions that pop up along the way. You'll be off to Neverland before you know it!
Reach out and find your happily ever after,
Alyssa
