My magic band + says already claimed but it’s not linked to anyone.

    Hi Alyson, welcome to planDisney!

With Valentine's Day coming up, I keep hinting to my husband that the only accessory I need is the EPCOT 40th MagicBand+ for our upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Time will tell if he picks up on the hint. I appreciate the hands-free access MagicBand+ provides at theme park entry and Lightning Lane entrances; I also love being a part of the nighttime spectaculars.

I understand you're having trouble linking your MagicBand+ to your My Disney Experience account. MagicBands can only be linked once to an individual and are nontransferable, much like a banshee in Pandora - The World of Avatar bonds with one Na'vi during its lifetime. The error message you're receiving tells me there's another layer to your situation we need to uncover.

If you ordered your MagicBand+ with the Disney Resorts Collection hotel discount, your MagicBand+ arrived pre-linked and should appear in your My Disney Experience account under "My MagicBands and Cards." Use your My Disney Experience mobile app to pair your MagicBand+ with your device before use (three small lines at the bottom right of the home page --> MagicBands and More --> Your Name --> Pair). Additionally, make sure your MagicBand+ is fully charged and updated to take full advantage of its capabilities.

If you're traveling with a group, there's a chance your MagicBand+ is linked to a My Disney Experience account profile with your name that is managed by another person's account. If that's the case, your task becomes merging that My Disney Experience account profile with your account as follows:

    1. Ask the managing account owner to click "Update" next to your name as it appears on their Family & Friends List in My Disney Experience.
    2. Click "Share Planning with [your name].
    3. Enter the email address associated with your My Disney Experience account and click "Continue."
    4. Once you accept the email invitation to connect, all of your vacation entitlements housed in their account (including your MagicBand+) will automagically transfer to your account. You will remain connected as Family & Friends, which means you can view and make plans for each other.

If these suggestions do not remedy your Stitch-uation, Alyson, I recommend contacting a helpful Cast Member at the My Disney Experience, MagicBand, and MagicBand+ number. Cast Members are the heart of The World's Most Magical Celebration and are best equipped to lay eyes on your specific situation.

I'm sending happy thoughts your way for a linked, paired, and fully charged vacation, Alyson!

    Choose magic,
    Jennifer
