Greetings to you, Dana!
Welcome to planDisney and we appreciate you coming by! I loved seeing your question because I went through the exact same situation. Disney announced that they would be adding MagicBand+ functionality to the Disneyland Resort right before my last trip to the Walt Disney World Resort last year, so I decided to order one since I could now use it on both coasts! When I took it home and tried to link it to my Disneyland ticket, there was a learning curve for me to successfully attach it, so I'd be happy to explain what I did.
MagicBand+ can only be linked to one ticket on one account at a time. I found that I did indeed have to unlink and unpair my MagicBand+ from the My Disney Experience App before I was able to link it to my ticket within the
Disneyland Mobile App using the standard
linking instructions. Once I did that, it's worked smoothly ever since! Remember that it is attached to only one ticket at a time, so it will need to be re-linked if you want to use it for your Disneyland Park Day Pass and then use it for a Disneyland After Dark event, like
Oogie Boogie Bash, for instance.
I've really enjoyed being able to use my MagicBand+ to scan into the Parks, easily redeem
Lightning Lanes and link Disney
PhotoPass pictures. I'm hoping that the Disneyland Resort will eventually get the full feature suite for MagicBand+ that they enjoy at the Walt Disney World Resort. The designs that they're releasing are so cool, especially the ones for the Disney100 Celebration!
Dana, I hope that this was helpful for you and that you are able to link your MagicBand+ successfully. If you need anything further from us, please reach out again anytime. You're always welcome here at planDisney!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
