I have a magic band from previous trips but purchased a new phone.. I am trying to retrieve my magic band so I can use it but it keeps saying it has already been claimed.. how do I link them ?

Welcome to planDisney, Scott! Thanks for swinging by today with your question about MagicBands. I love having a piece of technology that makes it easy for me to tap into the Theme Parks, collect my Disney PhotoPass photos, and conveniently make charges to my Resort Hotel room folio. When I get back from a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, I always find myself tapping my wrist to try and open my front door!

Scott, your MagicBand is connected to your My Disney Experience account and not your specific phone. Getting a new phone should not affect being able to use a MagicBand you have previously used. You are likely getting an error message because your MagicBand has already been properly linked and nothing needs to be done. You can check for yourself by clicking on "My MagicBands and Cards" on the My Disney Experience website. You will see a list that has all of your active MagicBands and admission cards and if the MagicBand you're planning to use is pictured in this list, you are good to go!

If you don't see it there and you're still having issues with connectivity, I recommend visiting Guest Relations when you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort this week. They will be able to help you sort out any technical problems you might be running into.

    Have a magical day, Scott!
