Hi Marco! Thanks for reaching out to planDisney with all of your questions. We are happy to help make some magic on your upcoming trip.
Talk about adding some magic to a trip. I just love the new Disney bands! They allow you to experience the parks in a whole new way. I love to look down at my wrist every time I feel a vibration from the band to see what color it is turning. I especially love to take a peek (or hold it up in front of me) while experiencing the
nighttime spectaculars. It just adds an extra element of fun!
To answer your question, if you want to be able to experience
all of the things that the new iteration of the Disney band can offer, it does need to be connected through Bluetooth on your smartphone. The band also needs to be fully charged. Luckily, it comes with a cable to allow you to connect it to a standard USB charger. It is generally recommended that you charge it every night before use.
That being said, the new version of the Disney band can still be used as a typical Disney band when Bluetooth is turned off and/or it's no longer charged. You will still be able to link ride photos with your
My Disney Experience account, gain entry to the parks, and redeem any
Lightning Lane reservations you may purchase or
Virtual Queue reservations for which you may sign up.
Marco, I hope you enjoy your visit to the resort and have a lot of fun experimenting with your new Disney band. If you are planning on visiting
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at
Disney's Hollywood Studios, be sure to use your band (with Bluetooth on) to experience the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters game. It's such a unique way to interact with the land.
Please feel free to
reach out again in the future if you have any questions.
Be kind, have courage, and always believe in a little magic,
Matt
