Hi Peggy, welcome to planDisney!
As a member of a multigenerational Disney family, I love hearing that the kids and kids at heart in your family enjoy visiting Walt Disney World Resort. I have my grandmother to thank for introducing me to Disney magic and it sounds like you and your granddaughter share some similarly special memories.
Valid admission, a
theme park reservation, and a
method of entry (MagicBand,
MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or admission card) are currently required for theme park entry. MagicBands are nontransferrable, which means they cannot be reassigned to another person once linked. I know this is not the answer you hoped for, Peggy. The average battery life of a MagicBand is two or three years, though, which means a MagicBand linked in 2014 would likely not work, anyways.
If the idea of using hands-free technology to tap in at theme park entry and
Lightning Lane entrances is appealing, the mother can purchase a MagicBand+
online or at various retail shops on property. Thanks to the carousel of progress, MagicBand+ designs are rechargeable and interact with nighttime spectaculars like
Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I also like using the
My Disney Experience mobile app to download a
Disney MagicMobile pass, which essentially turns my Apple Watch into a MagicBand.
I hope your family has a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Please return to planDisney with any other trip-planning questions.
Choose magic,
Jennifer
