Hi - I would like to use 1 magic band+ for my family and not have to use any cellphones or mobile checkins. Can I scan my magic and for all 4 of us at each ride, etc? Thanks

Hi there, Ellen; thanks for stopping by planDisney!

As much as I love using my MagicBand+ and my mobile wallet on my phone and Apple Watch, I totally understand wanting to disconnect from tech a bit at Walt Disney World Resort. I am more than happy to help you find a solution to make this dream come true.

First, let’s talk MagicBands+. A MagicBand+ can only be linked to one individual and their theme park tickets. So, you wouldn’t be able to link all four of your tickets, Lightning Lane access, and so on. However, if you are using your MagicBand+ for Disney Resorts Collection hotel room entry, tapping in to capture your Disney PhotoPass photos, or other whole party scans, one member’s MagicBand+ will do.

What can you do then to avoid using your cellphone as much as possible? You could get complimentary Key to the World cards for your party from the front desk of your Disney Resorts Collection hotel upon arrival. Not only will these cards work as keys to your hotel room, but they are individually linked to each Guest’s theme park tickets. I guess you can say that they are MagicBands in card form. These aren’t regularly issued because of the popularity of MagicBands and MagicBands+, but definitely ask for them.

If you’re not staying on property, get a physical theme park ticket card from Guest Relations or at a ticket window at the entrance of each theme park. Have your ticket confirmation numbers and method of payment used ready to go. You can scan these complimentary cards for park entry and Lightning Lane queue entrances.

AN EXTRA GEM: Although you want to stay away from mobile devices as much as possible, the My Disney Experience App is super helpful when it comes to up-to-date information around the theme parks like character meet-and-greet opportunities and other experiences that wouldn’t be printed in the physical park maps. Ironically, the more you use it at home to get used to the app, the less you’ll need it when you’re in the parks.

I hope that you have the Most Magical adventure, Ellen. If you have any other Disney vacation planning questions, ask us here at planDisney. I’m all ears!

    Magic always,
