Hello there, Deborah! Welcome aboard the planDisney panel! I'm so happy that you thought to cruise our way with your question as you prepare for a magical voyage on the
Disney Magic in Europe this summer.
I just returned home from a cruise on the Disney Magic, and I had to make some similar preparations before leaving home. I like to use my credit card as often as possible when traveling, but I knew that having local currency on hand in Europe would be best for tips. We had some excellent tour guides during our
Port Adventures and I was grateful that we had planned ahead.
Iceland, Norway, and Scotland all have different currencies. Iceland uses the Icelandic Krona, Norway the Norwegian Krone, and Scotland uses the Pound sterling (widely known as the pound). In my preparations for travel, I read that you can get the best exchange rate at local banks and ATMs. Due to the nature of cruise travel, you might not have the time before or during your Port Adventure to locate an ATM and get a withdrawal in local currency. It may be in your best interest to inquire at your local bank to see if you can get the currencies you need before leaving home.
Alternatively and for your convenience onboard the Disney Magic, the Guest Services Desk (Deck 3, Midship) offers foreign currency exchange. Bring the amount you would like to exchange in U.S. dollars and they will be happy to help you. There is no charge or fee for this service on the ship, but keep in mind that exchange rates fluctuate regularly.
I'm so excited for you to step aboard the Disney Magic! If you are up for a thrill, check out the
AquaDunk. Plunge down this exciting waterslide for an adventure at sea. If that's not your cup of tea, there are so many activities and opportunities for entertainment onboard. I hope you have the most fabulous time!!
Cruise our way again if you have more questions. I'd love to help point your compass towards fun and adventure with the Disney Cruise Line.
Happy Sailing!
