Hi Karen!
Star Wars and Disney Parks fans continue to astonished by the plans for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. I cannot wait to visit the planet Batuu and explore Black Spire Outpost, and I believe it's going to be truly breathtaking.
Cast Members at Walt Disney World are excellent at crowd control, but there will almost certainly be record-breaking crowds at Disney's Hollywood Studios for the first days and maybe weeks that Batuu is welcoming visitors. If you are comfortable avoiding Disney's Hollywood Studios altogether and focusing on the other three theme parks, this might be an option, but if there are must-sees there for your group (and I think there are), you may want to consider changing your travel date.
If you decide the Force is with you, this
Planning Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities is a really helpful resource.
Disability Access Service, which allows Guests who may not be able to tolerate waiting in lines to come back with a return time to experience an attraction, may help. We've been assured that this will be available in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, but waits may still be very long. My fellow panelists have had good luck using noise canceling headphones, having snacks and activities, and taking quiet breaks in a dark, cool space, such as the parks' First Aid Stations. Since you know best what the needs are, I encourage you to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 with your questions about accommodations.
Karen, you are going to Disney World! I'm sending pixie dust as you plan and determine how to make it the best vacation ever for everyone in your party, and please come back and see us with your questions.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
