Hi there, Liz! Welcome to planDisney and thanks for your question!
I just love helping my fellow Coloradans plan trips to the Disneyland Resort! When the parks reopened after the extended closure due to the pandemic, FASTPASS and Disney MaxPass services were suspended. Then, we recently heard that those services have been officially retired as a new service called
Disney Genie will be debuted this fall.
Disney Genie is a complimentary digital feature in the
Disneyland app that will create custom park-touring itineraries based on your interests. It will also update throughout the day to ensure you make the most of your day in the parks. You will also have the option to purchase Disney Genie+ for $20 per ticket, per day. Disney Genie+ will work much like Disney MaxPass did in that you will choose the next available arrival time for an attraction and then skip most of the wait by using the new Lightning Lane.
An announcement regarding the official release date of this feature has not been made yet. Be sure to keep your eye on the
Disney Parks Blog to see if it will be available for your travel dates. If Disney Genie+ is available for your trip, you will be able to add it on to your ticket each day in the Disneyland app. If not, then you will simply use the standby queues for most of the attractions and the virtual queues for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.
I hope this helps! Have a fantastic time at the Happiest Place on Earth!
