I have made reservations and now i am torn between hotels. We are booked in Animal Kingdon Lodge, but for the amount of time we are going to be at the hotel and the cost diference that Caribbean Resort is a better idea. PLease help! Is Delux worth it?

    Hi Curtis!

That's a really hard question and I really can't answer it.  Every guest (and every panelist on the Moms Panel) would probably have a different answer.

I can give you some advice based on my travels.  When I travel solo, I always stay at Pop Century, which is my favorite Disney Value Resort.  If it is just me and my wife, then I always stay at a Deluxe Resort since we don't travel that often without the kids and I want some place a little more romantic.  My favorite Disney Deluxe Resort is the Wilderness Lodge, though if I'm looking for some place really romantic, I'll make a reservation at the Polynesian Resort.

When my whole family travels then we either stay at a Disney Moderate Resort or in a Deluxe Resort.  It really comes down to cost and whether the event is something that is supposed to be special.  What I mean is we usually get two connecting rooms.  Sometimes I can get a really good discount at a Deluxe Villa and it's only slightly more than two connecting rooms at Port Orleans Riverside (my favorite Moderate Resort).  Other times the cost is a lot more at a Deluxe Resort, but we're down there for a family reunion or to celebrate something really special; on those vacations we go ahead and splurge and stay in a Deluxe Resort.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is spectacular.  If you have young children, then it is truly fabulous, because I've never met a young child who didn't love having exotic animals right outside the hotel.  If you are going for more than a few days, you might consider starting off in a Disney Moderate Resort and then switching for the last couple of days at Animal Kingdom Lodge.  That will give you a taste of what it is like to stay there.

Good luck with your decision and write back with more specific questions!
