I have made reservations in Sept. For the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. With a family of for with a 2 an 7 year old. I have read it takes longer to get to the parks from there. Will going back an forth to the parks be to much for kids? Should we stay closer?

The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are as close to the parks as other similarly priced resorts. If you are willing to upgrade to a deluxe resort you can snag a room closer to the resorts, but if you want to stay in the same price range definitely consider staying with the cabins.

Will you have a car? If so the cabins offer excellent on site parking right next to your door. Other resorts require more of a walk to reach your room from the parking lot. This can save considerable travel time.

The Magic Kingdom is only a boat ride away and the other parks can all be reached by bus. The internal bus system in this resort can add time since you catch one bus to the main entrance and then another one to a park. You will have more room and recreation choices at this resort as part of the trade off. Your cabin will have a deck with a grill, a full kitchen, and a separate bedroom. Two dinner shows, horse back riding, carriage rides, boat and bike rentals, and fishing are some of the awesome offerings at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

A Disney tradition that guests from all resorts travel to Fort Wilderness to enjoy is Chip n' Dale's Campfire Sing-a-Long. Roast marshmallows for s'mores, sing, meet Chip n' Dale, and enjoy a classic Disney movie under the stars.
