Hi, Kimberly!
What a great choice!
My son and I loved our stay at
Disney's Port Orleans-Riverside for so many reasons. First, the architecture of the mansions is simply stunning. Surrounded by lush landscaping, the main lobby building and pool area (Ol' Man Island) are lovely to look at as well, not to mention well-appointed with just about anything a Guest might need during his or her stay. You're sure to love it, too!
If you take a look at the map that's embedded in the link above, locate the main pool, which is on Ol' Man Island. The walkway that juts out to the right leads directly to Building 85, Magnolia. For us, this was the perfect location in that the main pool was a 3-minute walk from our room and the lobby is just a few minutes' walk from there. However, directly behind that building is the East Depot bus stop. Ample parking was great, too, for when a friend dropped us off or picked us up...practically right at our doorstep.
If you are looking at a
Preferred Location in Alligator Bayou, Buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27, I'd stick to Buildings 14 or 15, as these are bit closer to the South Depot, with 15 likely being a bit quieter than 14.
For great, unofficial information about this resort, take a look at portorleans.org; you'll find maps with room numbers, photos and lots of great information about Port Orleans. After your stay, however, I warn you: you'll look back at the photos on that site and will smile with a heavy sigh. It's just beautiful...(heavy sigh.)
No matter which you choose, Kimberly, you are sure to fall in love with this subtle yet grand resort.
