We have made our reservations for next month, but found out a close friend is coming into Orlando on 3 of the 5 nites we are there. The cast member with Disney travel said we would have to add him as a "day Guest" on site. is this true

Hi Joel - if your friend is planning on staying in your room with you, then yes - you will need to add your friend to your reservation so he can get a room key and be accounted for.  Additionally, there is usually an additional charge for having more than two adults in a resort room.  You can add him at the front desk once he arrives.

If he is not staying in your room with you, you may want to stop at the concierge desk in your resort to ask what the policy is for your particular resort.  I personally have never had to register a day guest but policies to change from time to time and may vary by resort.
