We have made reservations for the first part of december because we heard this is a good time for less crowds. We have no children and enjoy the parks ourselves. We tried to visit when most kids are in school, did we make a good choice?

    Darla:

Thanks for coming to the Mom's Panel.

As someone who's been to Disney three times in the month of December, if you're looking to avoid crowds, you've made a good choice.  Having said that, though, I'm finding that the more people talk about December sporting great weather and low crowds, the more crowds come each year during that time!

If you're looking for a time when kids are in school, keep in mind that Pop Warner Week is December 5 - 12.  Most of the activities are at the Wide World of Sports Complex, but you'll see youngsters in the parks and more commonly in the Value and Moderate resorts.

Don't take this as a recommendation, though, to change your reservations. Besides mid-January or early September, I can't think of a better time for low crowds. What gives December the leg up over still-hot September and unpredicable January---you guess it, the comfortably mild, Florida winter weather!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
