We made reservations for a few character dining experiences. How much time should we allow for travel from our resort (Art of Animation resort) to each of the resorts? as we will be heading back mid day for the kids' nap time.

    Erica,

I'm sure you are going to enjoy your stay at Art of Animation. The themed areas and the family suites are pretty amazing.

The bus stops at the resort are in front of Animation Hall. As with all the Disney resorts and parks, buses usually run from Art of Animation to the four theme parks and Downtown Disney about every 20 minutes, but there can be fluctuations. Once you board, you can expect the ride to take 10-20 minutes. Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot are closest to the resort; Magic Kingdom is the farthest.

I'm not sure which character meals you are attending, but if the restaurant is inside one of the theme parks, make sure you factor in the time it will take to go through security and the entrance gates and to walk to the restaurant.

If you are dining at one of the other resort hotels, you can take the bus to Downtown Disney, then transfer to a bus for that specific hotel. Or, if you are going to the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary or Fort Wilderness, you can take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and use the monorail or water taxis to reach the resort. You can also walk to the Contemporary from the Magic Kingdom bus station.

I would allow at least an hour to an hour and a half to be sure you arrive in plenty of time and don't stress about being late.

I'm a fan of the Disney Transportation system. I love the fact that we never have to get in the car during our stays. But if you have a car, and your reservation is at another resort, this might be the time to use it.

You can park free at the resort where you are dining for the duration of your meal. Driving can be a less complicated, faster option.

I hope that helps. Enjoy the time with your family!
