Hey, Josh! Welcome to planDisney! I'm excited to help you with your MagicBand question.
MagicBands are uniquely linked to an individual’s My Disney Experience account and cannot be transferred or shared with another guest. As long as the MagicBand that you used on your previous trip with your father-in-law is linked to your My Disney Experience account, you can use it on your upcoming trip.
Each MagicBand is assigned to a single person, allowing them to access their
park tickets,
Lightning Lane selections, and even unlock their Disney Resort hotel room with just a tap!
Once a MagicBand is activated and linked, it remains associated with that guest for future visits, unless manually deactivated in My Disney Experience. If you have multiple
MagicBands from past trips, you can check which ones are still active and select your favorite to use for your upcoming adventure!
Just head to the
My Disney Experience website, log in, hover your mouse over "My Disney Experience" at the top right, and then click on "MagicBands & Cards" to view, deactivate, or link a new band. This is where you will find all of your MagicBands linked to your account. If you don't find any listed, a new MagicBand will need to be purchased and linked to your account. Once a Magicband is linked to an account, it can not be transferred to someone else.
