Hiya, Adam. Welcome to planDisney! I’m happy to help you navigate getting your tickets sorted out and connected to your MagicBand+.
First off, we need to ensure that you can see your tickets in your
Disneyland Mobile App, and they have the correct names on them. To locate the tickets, press the (☰) in the bottom right corner of your home screen, then “My Tickets & Passes.” If you can see the tickets for you, your wife, and your child, we’re on the right track!
If the tickets are not there, it could be for a couple of different reasons. If you purchased a resort package somewhere other than the
Disneyland website or mobile app, the tickets will not automatically show up. If you’re staying at a
Disneyland Resort Hotel or a
Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, link your hotel reservation by pressing that (☰) again and scrolling down to “Hotel Reservations.” There, enter your reservation number, the last name on the reservation, and it should now be linked. Now the frustrating part comes in. Sometimes your tickets will then appear in your mobile app, and sometimes they will not. Guests have reported that they don’t appear until about three days before your visit. If you have a hotel reservation and a park reservation, you should be okay, though you’ll have to wait until then to link the tickets to your
MagicBand+s.
Let’s say your tickets have arrived in your “My Tickets & Passes” section of the Mobile App. Now what? For simplicity's sake, let’s make sure each ticket has a name associated with it. Technically, there is a workaround, but it will be much easier to ensure accuracy if you make sure the names on the tickets match the people in your party. To do this, you will need to call the
ticket line of Guest Relations and ask them to change each ticket name for you.
Okay, press the (☰) one more time and scroll all the way down to the section that says “MagicBand+.” In that section, there is a blue (+) in the upper right corner. Here you can add as many MagicBand+s as you like. Make sure the bands are fully charged, and then just follow the instructions to link each one. Go back one page, and you’ll see each band listed. There should be a blue (+) under the name of the band. When you click that, it will take you to a page that lists all of the tickets from your “My Tickets & Passes” section that we just sorted out a few steps ago. Select which person you want to assign the MagicBand+, and that should be it!
To summarize, get your tickets into “My Tickets & Passes,” link your MagicBand+s, select the ticket you want to assign to the band. The hard part, I think, is getting your tickets in the right place and named appropriately. Again, if you purchased outside of Disney - through Costco, through a hotel, or through a travel person - you can link your reservation, but you may need to wait until just before you arrive to actually see the tickets.
Whew, Adam, wow. I feel like we just went on a journey together. That may have been way too much detail, but I think it covers most of the possible issues. I very much hope this helps you solve your problems so you can get to planning the fun parts of your trip. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to bring them to my pals and me at
planDisney. I hope you have a magical day.
