We made last-minute plans to come to WDW Aug 18-21...tough to get dinner reservations anywhere at this point. I'm not looking for character dining, just a step up from burgers. etc. Any suggestions?

Hi Michele!  I know this is always a problem with last minute reservations to Walt Disney World.  I would try some great spots at Downtown Disney for dining and also check out some of the great quick service locations in each park if table service is not available.

In the Magic Kingdom we enjoy Columbia Harbour House, Casey's Corner, and Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe for a quick but good meal with choices.  In Animal Kingdom park our must stop no matter what is Flametree Barbecue.  Once you have your trays of food walk down the path to the water and enjoy a leisurely meal watching Expedition Everest.  In Hollywood Studios Backlot Express and Studio Catering Company are good choices when reservations can't be found at the restaurants. EPCOT offers many choices but most are table service so try snagging a reservation at places like Marrakesh in Morocco or Nine Dragons in China.

Some of the resorts will have dining availability as well so don't hesitate to check with them.  The Swan and Dolphin are part of the Boardwalk area and although they are not Disney they have some great dining choices in the resorts there.  When you check into your resort ask the concierge to help you see if there is anything available where cancellations might have been done.  Never hurts to keep trying!
