Hi Kimberley,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted to see that you are planning to dine at Tusker House Restaurant and visit the Rivers of Light nighttime show!
I suggest that you do the
Rivers of Light Dining Package. With the dining package, you will get access to a reserved seating area for the show. Without the dining package, you would have to either use a Fast Pass+ selection or wait in the standby line for the show. With the standby line, there is no guarantee that you would get in to see the show. I just checked a few dates in February and there were still dining package times available. You may have to shift your dinnertime a bit, but I think that shift is worth it to avoid using a Fast Pass+ selection for the show!
My family has done the Rivers of Light Dining Package at Tusker House Restaurant. The dinner experience was lovely. We even managed to schedule a fourth Fast Pass+ for DINOSAUR to do right after dinner and before the show. Although we were rushing, we managed to do it and get to our seats prior to the start of the show. I would suggest that you find a seat at least 30 minutes prior to the show so that you can have a better choice of seats in the reserved area of the amphitheater. For this show, I prefer sitting towards the front. There was also a Disney PhotoPass photographer in the amphitheater taking pictures before the show. We managed to catch his attention so he came over and took our photo.
Kimberley, Rivers of Light is a beautiful show. It was a great way to end our busy day at Disney's Animal Kingdom, especially after our expedition to
Pandora - The World of Avatar!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
