    Hannah from TX Asked

I made a dining reservation for one under my name. Can another member of my party use this reservation if I’m with them at check in, so they could go instead of me?

    Howdy, Hannah!

I'm always happy to see a fellow Texan stop by planDisney, so I'm glad you're here! There's no better time than the present to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth, especially with all the fun the 50th Anniversary Celebration has to offer. Plus, with exciting new attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind set to open soon, there's so much to look forward to in 2022!

I don't know about you, but I find myself daydreaming of all the places I'll eat on my vacation well before I'm set to depart more often than I care to admit. I fantasize about the next time I'll be able to sip on a glass of Violet Lemonade while strolling through EPCOT or feast on Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake at Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom Park. Dining at Walt Disney World is half the fun, and with so many delicious options, who can blame me?

It comes as no surprise that some advanced dining reservations are a hot commodity at Walt Disney World Resort and can be hard-to-get, so I understand wanting to allow a different member of your party use your dining reservation instead of you if you can't make it. I checked with Guest Services to verify, and I was told that technically the cardholder would need to be present. However, you could, as you suggested, go with the member of your party to the restaurant and explain the situation to the Cast Members there together. It shouldn't be a problem for them to accommodate your request since someone will still be present for the dining reservation, but it's best to be certain.

The real concern would be if no one showed up for the dining reservation at all, because you will still be responsible for any no show or cancellation fees since the dining reservation is under your name. This is why it's encouraged that the cardholder and the reservation holder be one and the same.

However, your best bet, and what I highly recommend you do, is speak with the friendly Cast Members at Disney Dining at 407-824-1391 ahead of your trip. They should be able to wave their magic wand and change the name and card information on the original reservation over to the member of your party who plans on actually using it. This not only removes the responsibility of fees off of you, but it also lessens the likelihood of any hiccups with your situation at check in.

I hope this helps, Hannah. Please stop back by planDisney with any further questions that arise. Enjoy every delicious morsel on your vacation!

    Have a magical day,
