i have made 2adr for the night of our arrival. if travel goes easy we want to go to DQ, so I made reservation in downtown. but i also have res. at 1900 if we want to hang in the resort. Can we just be a no show at the other rest, or will there be a fee

    Lisa:

There won't be a fee if you don't use your Advanced Dining Reservation, however....

You bring up something that is a bit touchy in the Disney Dining World: hoarding reservations. The system allows it, but it's unfortunately becoming more common as guests make their own dining reservations versus travel agents. The world today is all about choices and options, but a decision like yours--where you know that you won't use one of the reservations--has a domino affect. Especially during periods of the year when Disney offers free dining, reservations can be hard to come by.

I answer questions every week from guests who are "disappointed" and "frustrated" they didn't get the restaurant reservation they wanted. And I feel for them. Like me, they don't want their dining plans to be a roll of the dice with standby. Asking small children to wait an hour to eat or walking all over the park to find a sit-down meal can sour a vacation.

Your situation is why I encourage these disappointed guests to call back repeatedly in case someone cancels or, in your case, firms up their plans. I may get booed in the ratings for this, but I look forward to the day when dining reservations ARE linked up to a fee or a smart reservation system that limits dummie reservations so that dining at Disney is as smooth as a glass slipper.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
