Hi Rochelle,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you so very much for asking me a question!
We visited Walt Disney World Resort several times with our little guy, including his first visit when he was 6 months old and a second visit when he had just turned 1. We spent the vast majority of our days at Magic Kingdom Park, which made quick access to and from that theme park critical, especially if you want to head back to your Resort for pool/nap time.
That’s why I would recommend staying in one of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels that is located along the
Resort Monorail loop. My two favourites are
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and
Disney’s Contemporary Resort, with a slight preference for the latter because it’s walking distance to Magic Kingdom Park. Plus, if you do decide to use the monorail, you’ll be happy to know that you won’t need to fold your stroller prior to boarding.
As for room location, I’ll admit that I usually go for the least expensive option when I stay at either one of those Resorts. If I’m staying there, my room location is somewhat secondary to me, and I’d rather splurge on good meals and other treats in the Parks. The only exception is that, one of these days, I’d love to stay in a Theme Park View room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Being able to watch fireworks while kiddo and I are in our pyjamas? YES PLEASE!
I hope my answer helps you plan your upcoming visit. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
