Hi Lynne, we’re planning a trip in Feb with our toddler who will be near 2 yo then. We stayed last yr at the Contemporary which was great for going to the MK. We would like to stay at a moderate resort this time around - what would you recommend? Thanks!

    Hi Rochelle,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you so much for asking me another question. It’s always a pleasure to see you!

My absolute favourite Moderate Resort Hotel is unquestionably Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. While I absolutely love the laid-back New Orleans vibe that can be found throughout this Resort, what makes me recommend it above all others is its size. If you previously stayed at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, I’m not sure that you can truly appreciate how MASSIVE all of the other Disney Resort Hotels in this category can be. Because of this, even though the theming may be a bit more understated at the French Quarter, I’d still recommend it as my top Moderate Disney Resort Hotel.

For example, even if your hotel room is at the far end of this Resort, it’s still only a 5 minute walk (if that), to the Resort’s dining location, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory and to the Resort’s only bus stop for Disney Bus Transportation. This is also a very big deal for Resorts in the Moderate category as most of them have 4 bus stops scattered throughout the Resort.

Finally, the pool area might be wonderful for your little one as they have a newly renovated “splash pad” at the Doubloon Lagoon Water Play Area. The smaller size of the pool might also be less overwhelming for her. If, however, you’d prefer to have more recreation and dining options, you can always head over to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside for even more options.

I hope my answer helps you narrow down your choices for your next visit to Walt Disney World Resort, Rochelle! Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
