Hi, Lynne! My husband and I are thinking about celebrating our upcoming anniversary at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Can you tell me why you think this would be the perfect romantic resort for us? If you have a different resort suggestion, I'm all ears! Thanks

    Hi Danielle,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking me a question.

For me, it’s a no brainer: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is definitely the place for a romantic getaway! When my husband and I tied the knot at Walt Disney World Resort a few years ago, that was where we stayed, so it will always have a special place in my heart. The atmosphere is really unlike anywhere else “on property”, with a peaceful vibe that never fails to whisk me away to another place and time... and that provides a bit of a respite from the hustle and bustle of the Theme Parks! It’s an absolutely gorgeous Resort, from its stunning main lobby, down to the furnishings and other exotic details in the Guest rooms. You and your husband will have so much fun exploring all of the different nooks and crannies.

Because you’re going to be visiting for your honeymoon, I would recommend splurging on a Savanna View room. I love sitting on our balcony with a beverage and a book, watching the animals go about their day in the amazing savanna right in front of me.

Another splurge worth considering for your anniversary would be dinner at Jiko - The Cooking Place. Their wine list is one of my favourites in any restaurant, anywhere, and the food is really unique and delicious too. I highly recommend it!

Finally, don’t forget to check out Johari Treasures if you want to pick up a special souvenir to mark your anniversary. I’ve bought some of my favourite Walt Disney World Resort souvenirs there, including some African artwork. I purchased a few drawings during one of our visits and they never fail to make me smile as I remember our priceless vacation memories.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
