Hi Lynne, hoping to ride ROTR next Friday! Will be at HS an hour or so before opening. Have heard that WiFi is not the best. Do you know if data from Canadian companies is reliable in the parks? We are with Bell. What do you think: WiFi or data? Thanks!

    Hi again Danielle,

It truly is a pleasure to see you again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for asking us another question.

I’ll actually be visiting Walt Disney World Resort again very soon and I’m super excited to finally get to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance for myself. I’ve been doing a fair bit of research in the “WiFi vs cellular data” debate for the My Disney Experience mobile app, and both seem to have their pros and cons. It seems as though cellular data is more reliable, but that you have a better chance of getting a lower (and therefore earlier) boarding group by using the WiFi.

From what I understand, your Canadian cellular service provider actually partners with an American company like AT&T or Verizon, so you’ll be using their network when you’re in the United States. This means that your Canadian phone will be as reliable as an equivalent phone on an American network.

As for which to recommend, I’m planning to go with cellular service on my phone, but other people in my party will go with WiFi to increase our odds. I’d also highly recommend getting away from the crowd (to avoid some of the network lag), preferably near someone in one of the blue Guest Experience Team stations. That way, if something goes horribly wrong (such as your app freezing in the middle of your confirmation), you can try to plead your case to one of the Cast Members stationed there. Taking a screenshot of the steps you went through might also prove to be helpful if you need their assistance.

Good luck with your boarding pass quest and please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if have any other questions!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
