Hi Lynne! So excited for our future trip to WDW and I know YOU are the right person to start asking questions to!! First question coming at ya: We are renting a car, so aside from shuttle benefits, can you tell me the benefits to staying on-site?

    Hi Julia,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you so much for asking me a question and for your kind words - I’m really touched!

I’ll let you in on a little secret: I rented a car during one of our visits to Walt Disney World Resort a few years ago… and now I’m hopelessly spoiled! I rent a car for every trip even though we always stay in a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel.

The ability to use Disney Transport is only one of a number of reasons why I always stay “on-site”. Some of the perks include things like: Extra Magic Hours, the ability to use your (complimentary!) MagicBand not only as your Theme Park Ticket but also as your room key AND for charging your purchases back to your room, and even package delivery straight to your Resort. Finally, especially with a rental car, you’ll find that your travel times are likely to be shorter than for most "off-site" options, which will be especially useful if you’re planning to head back to your Resort for a break in the middle of the day (which I highly recommend).

There are also several “intangible” benefits to staying in a Walt Disney World Resort. Each Resort is impeccably themed, with great amenities, dining options and, always a highlight for children, a great pool! There’s just something so magical about truly leaving the outside world behind for the duration of my visits to Walt Disney World Resort, and I’ve found it jarring (to say the least) when I’ve had to leave the Magic in order to head to an off-site hotel.

I hope I’ve answered your first question… keep ‘em coming!!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
