Hi Lynne, what is the most economic way to stay at WDW resorts? We are a family of 5, but need to budget our stay, suggestions?

    Hi Julia,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking me another question!

If you’re looking the most budget-friendly accommodations for your family’s upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort, then you should consider staying in one of the Value Resort Hotels. Because you’re a family of 5, one room wouldn’t be big enough to hold everyone, unless one of the 5 is an infant. Even then, I would recommend against one room for all of you as it might get quite cramped!

There is one caveat if you choose to reserve two rooms: while you can request two connecting or adjoining rooms, the availability of connecting or adjoining rooms is not guaranteed (although your Resort will make every effort to honour your request). In order to increase the chances that your Resort will be able to accommodate you, make sure that you request connecting or adjoining rooms when you make your reservation, and then re-make that request when you check in.

Another option for your family would be one of the Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Not only do they have a separate master bedroom and two bathrooms, they also have a kitchenette which would allow you to save money by eating some of your meals (especially breakfast!) in your hotel room. Although a Family Suite may be more expensive than two rooms in a Value Resort Hotel (unless there are some special offers that may be available during your family’s travel dates), I’ve found that the savings on food helps make up the difference in cost, to say nothing of the comfort of being able to spread out a little bit more in a bigger room!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
