Hi Lyne! while visiting Disney I don't want to carry much but with a 6 yr old I will need "stuff"... What must-haves will I need to carry around with me? Will I need a backpack?Too much ? I want to have all my bases covered without going overboa

    Re-bonjour Mylene!

Thank you for coming back to visit us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel and for asking me another excellent question!

I remember the good old days of being able to walk through the “Guests Without Bags” lines at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks… and then I had a baby!! Although you won’t to carry around diapers and wipes for a 6 year-old, I’ve now come to the conclusion that, with kids, there’s a certain amount of “stuff” that you’ll need to take with you in order to fully enjoy your day at the Parks.

I see people carrying around all kinds of bags in every shape and size, from large backpacks to fanny packs to tiny little purses! What I would recommend for you would be a small backpack or messenger bag in which you can stash your family’s stuff. Sunscreen and hats are always a must, but I also think it’s a good idea to pack lip balm, band-aids (blisters happen, even in Walt Disney World), rain ponchos (also useful as seat covers on wet rides like Splash Mountain) and re-fillable bottles of water (if you want to avoid having to purchase water in the Parks). Nowadays, I also pack an external battery and charging cable for my cellular phone, especially considering how much use it gets with the My Disney Experience app and as a camera!

In case you’re wondering where you’re going to be putting this backpack when you’re experiencing an attraction, if the bag can’t be kept at your feet, there will be a handy compartment in your ride vehicle for you to stow your gear.  Please ask a Cast Member for assistance if you have any questions when boarding a specific attraction.

    Have a Magical Day!
