Luv the DMP! I am planning a trip in Dec 2014 to celebrate my daughters sweet 16. Me, DD and 3 friends. Should we stay at the Contemporary Garden Wing Standard View or pay a little more for the Polynesian Standard Room. Which do you recommend? Thanks :)

    Hi Margaret!

Why, thank you! We at the Disney Parks Moms Panel love to help Guests plan their Walt Disney World vacations! Like insanely love it.

Wow, what an awesome way to celebrate a Sweet 16! I love both Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Polynesian Resort, but for different reasons! If you were visiting the Walt Disney World resort in the Summer, then I would definitely choose Disney's Polynesian Resort, but...I'll tell you why.

I love the decor of both resorts. I like modern (Contemporary); I like dark colors (Polynesian). They both have fantastic restaurants. The Polynesian feels like a relaxing, tropical paradise. I love the Nanea Volcano Pool and the sandy beaches. Watching the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular from the beach is one of my family's favorite activities. If you have a Longhouse close to the Transportation and Ticket Center, it's a quick walk and easy to grab the monorail to Epcot or the Magic Kingdom or a bus to the other two theme parks.

Being that the trip is in December (Hooray, Christmas decorations!) the weather may not be prime for swimming, depending on your definition of prime swimming weather. I'm a need-it-very-hot type of girl, though the pools are heated. My children, on the other hand, will swim if the weather is at least 60 degrees. Disney's Contemporary Resort has a hot tub, while Disney's Polynesian Resort does not. I prefer the Contemporary when I have my young children, because we spend the majority of the time at the Magic Kingdom, and I love being able to walk there. I'm not sure how much you would save, but that money could go to extra activities like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

Really, you can't go wrong with either one! Both are in excellent locations, both have plenty of activities and Disney magic, and both are deluxe hotels with plenty of space in the rooms for 5 people.

I wish your daughter a very magical 16th birthday!
