Hi there Ruth, I'm thrilled to be able to wish you a warm Canadian welcome to planDisney!
I bet you're looking forward to being able to make a bit of an escape from the chilly weather over the holidays as many Canadians make the trek down for the sunny skies above Florida to celebrate among warm breezes and palm trees - especially at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort! Being able to take advantage of parking at the resort itself can sometimes be challenging, so I'm happy to lend a bit of additional insight:
- These policies are always subject to change without prior notice and may be at the discretion of each Cast Member or their leaders so while some folks may have been able to make it past with no issues to report, I recommend having a backup plan just in case you encounter some stricter security that morning. When taking into consideration the current construction projects underway as well as the desire to prevent folks from taking advantage of complimentary parking to access Magic Kingdom Park, these Cast Members are often just doing as they are instructed to ensure that guests spending their holidays at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort are still able to park themselves.
- Here's hoping that the security Cast Member you encounter may be helpful and welcoming on the morning of your meal, but to avoid any disappointment I might recommend parking closer to your reservation as they've recently begun actively looking up the names and times on each booking. (It might even be a better idea to visit the resorts following your meal just to avoid the morning rush of holiday revelers heading to Magic Kingdom Park.)
Keep in mind that during my last visit using the
Walt Disney World Monorail over the holidays, this could be a very busy transportation experience during that week with extended times amid the holiday hustle and bustle at the more popular times of the day, especially as Magic Kingdom Park begins to fill up. (Though it may be a bit slower, I almost always prefer to either take a stroll on the pathways leading from
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and
Disney's Contemporary Resort as well as making use of the
complimentary Water Transportation whenever possible, just to avoid feeling packed in like a sack full of presents!)
I hope that this helps Ruth, it can certainly be a daunting experience to visit Walt Disney World Resort at such a popular time of the year but I'm sure you'll both have a great time with a pinch of patience along with that pixie dust!
Here's to Merry memories at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
