What are the luggage guidelines for the Disney wonder to Alaska?

    Hi again, MK!

Thanks for bringing another great question to prepare for your family’s incredible adventure to Alaska this May! This 7-Night voyage will be one for the memory books with a few days at sea, a glacier visit, and three incredible ports of call where epic Port Adventures await! Add in Formal Night, Semi-Formal Night, and any adult-exclusive dining and I understand there could be a lot to pack for this sailing. I’m happy to share the luggage guidelines so you can think through your approach.

Per the Disney Cruise Line Cruise Contract, for your checked luggage “each Guest may bring aboard the ship a reasonable amount of clothing and personal effects without charge, not to exceed two bags per person.” I understand that everyone may have a different perspective of what’s “reasonable” so I always stay within the airline guidelines (typically less than 50 pounds per bag) because the same bag must make it on the flight with me. I also consider that our amazing Disney Crew Members are working hard to move that luggage throughout the ship efficiently and I am sure to label anything as heavy or pack fragile items in my carry-on bag.

You may also have a carry-on bag for embarkation day, which I use to carry travel documentation (citizenship documents, such as our passports and printed Port Arrival Form), medications, technology, any alcohol I’m bringing onboard, and swimsuits if we wish to swim that afternoon. Even in Vancouver, the Disney Wonder’s pool will be heated if your family would enjoy this fun embarkation day tradition. Your day bag must not exceed 22 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches in dimension as it will also be scanned through security checkpoints at the Port Terminal.

While we’re talking about luggage, here are a few more tips to consider:

    • I always bring a leak-proof bottle for each family member. You can use the beverage stations on Deck 9 near Dory’s Reef throughout the cruise, and having your own container to carry around the ship or on Port Adventures is really nice. You’ll find water, a variety of sodas, iced tea, hot tea, hot cocoa, and coffee there.
    • I like to pack a large tote or duffel bag that packs flat in my suitcase on the flight to the cruise. I will surely need the additional space coming home with many souvenirs! (Don’t forget to save room for the special Silver Anniversary at Sea gift.)
    • You can leave pool towels, blankets, and floatation devices at home as Disney provides these on the pool deck and for any Port Adventures requiring them.
    • Disney Cruise Line provides a range of shower products in your stateroom and will replenish them as needed.
    • Laundry services are available onboard if you need additional space and can re-wear some key items.

I hope this helps you feel more prepared for your epic voyage to Alaska, MK! Please don’t hesitate to ask us anything further as you are preparing for this special trip.

    Bon voyage!
