Hi! We were lucky enough to upgrade from Pop to AKL due to free dining being extended into December. My question is do any standard rooms have a savanna view. When shoud I request one? I want to do online check in will this hurt my chances?

    Hi Sherrie!

How exciting that you are able to upgrade your resort to Animal Kingdom Lodge.  I just returned from an amazing visit to this deluxe property along with a bunch of my Moms Panel Pals, and we had a fantastic time!  The standard-view rooms at the Lodge do not have savanna views.  You could certainly check with the front desk when you arrive to see if an upgrade is possible pending availability.  It might be a long shot, but might be worth a shot!  Don't worry if your room doesn't overlook a savanna, however, as the resort was designed so that there are many common areas where guests can relax and enjoy the wildlife.  The hallway windows, for example, overlook several savannas, as do a set of enormous floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby.  The restaurant Sanaa at Kidani Village enables you to dine at while looking out at a sea of animals.  During our trip, the same exotic bird "joined us" for dinner two nights in a row!  There are also walking trails which take you out (safely behind a fence) through a savanna.

I'm so thrilled that your family will be able to enjoy one of my absolute favorite Disney properties!  Have a magical trip!
