Hi Susan, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I had the chance to speak with one of the Walt Disney World Resort’s on-staff dietitians, and I was so impressed with how passionately she spoke about making sure Guests have safe and healthy food options available. She spoke about families who can rarely even eat out at restaurants at home because of food safety concerns related to allergies or other special dietary concerns, and how the Special Diets Cast Members are committed to making sure those Guests can find safe dining options so they can worry less and focus on the fun!
Your best bet is to reach out to the
Special Diets team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com at least 14 days in advance of your visit. If you have existing
dining reservations, specify the restaurant and time so they can notify the chef and also provide you with information. Most Table Service restaurants will be able to accommodate a low-sodium dietary need without any advance notice; just let your server know you’re looking for low-sodium options, and they can assist you. You can also request to speak with the chef or a manager, who can listen to your needs and provide options. On our recent visit, the chef at
Hollywood & Vine walked my sister-in-law through the buffet and pointed out all the safe options for her specific dietary needs, which was a great relief to her and made the experience really magical.
Susan, you may also want to bring or order groceries to your hotel room. This way, you can ensure a healthy breakfast or snack options that work with your dietary needs. If you’ll be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel,
this answer from my pal Brandy provides all the details on how to order groceries for your stay. My family always does this; it’s budget-friendly and I like knowing I have nutritious snacks on hand that my kiddos will actually eat.
Have so much fun on your visit! Please come back and see us if we can answer any more questions as you plan and dream.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
