Hi Nicola,
Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! My family absolutely loves the Walt Disney World Water Parks. Whether at
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park or
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, we love splashing the day away!
I do recommend getting to a water park about 20 -30 minutes before the scheduled opening time. You are more likely to find lounge chairs where you want them by arriving early. Also, you are visiting Walt Disney World at a fairly crowded time of year. Especially on very hot days, the water parks can fill up very fast, so arriving early is a great strategy. Definitely go on rides that build lines first thing in the morning. Rides such as Teamboat Springs at Disney's Blizzard Beach and Crush 'n' Gusher at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon will build up longer lines as they day goes on. You'll be amazed at how many more rides you get in if you concentrate on those types of attractions first thing in the morning! When you've done with rides that have lines, you can relax in the wave pool or float around the lazy river.
How long you will spend at the water park depends on your family. My seven-year-old daughter can easily spend entire days at the water parks - and wants to! If you only want to spend part of a day, definitely make it the morning, but if you have children who love the water, there is enough to do to spend from opening to closing at either water park. Be sure to check the schedule of park hours for exact opening and closing times for the day you want to visit.
I hope this helps answer you question, Nicola! Have a great time at Disney's water parks.
